To investigate this, we looked at horror films that had a slightly similar story line to ours on IMDB and saw their profits and different statistics from their release.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

Production Company: Warner Bro's
Lifetime Gross: $63,075,011
Theaters: 3,332
Opening: $32,902,299
These statistics show that in the past, in the Nightmare on Elm Street film, it was released in less than 400 theaters, but it gained a larger lifetime gross the Dead Silence did, even though that was shown in nearly 5 times as more theaters. This could show that its not about the release, but about how good the film actually is.
This data also shows that even less-known production companies can produce a large profit. This helps us because obviously we've had to create a company, but if we were to release it there wouldn't be loads of factors that would go against our film for it being individual.
