These results clearly showed that Horror was in the top 10 for genre preference for UK population.
Here it shows that 32% of the population enjoy the horror genre which amounts to just under a third. This shows the constant desire for this genre which consequently means that any horror films made are going to be popular to watch.
Not only did they discover the most popular, but they also related it back to social groups and classes to discover which group of people enjoy what type of films.
Below is a table to show the letter code that correlates to the job role/status of a person.
The table below represents the research done into the genre and discovering different elements like which social class enjoys which type of film. By using the above table to help, we can see that the vast majority are in class C2 that enjoy horrors. This is skilled manual workers, like plumbers and builders. Closely followed by both C1 and D and E classes. This puts people that work in the higher management sector - people like Lawyers and Doctors aren't in favour of these films as much.
From this table we can also see that whether people are parents or not doesn't hinder their preference on them liking the horror genre. There seems to be a larger proportion of females under 35 that enjoy this genre as opposed the males of the same age group. This doesn't correlate with my results as such. However, mine were completed on a smaller, less widespread scale which meant my results wouldn't be as reliable.
As we look into the different social groups in the table below we can see that the likely audience for our production would be 'Explorers'. Here, they seek discovery and experience with adventure. This excitement is typically a younger demographic which coincides with the results we have gathered.
